Material matters, but it comes after fit. A beautifully finished store is still the wrong purchase if a door cannot open or the bins catch on the frame.
Wooden bin storage
Timber usually blends easily with fences, planting and traditional homes. It can be stained or painted, and individual boards or hardware may be straightforward to repair. It also needs inspection and maintenance in line with the manufacturer’s guidance. Ground contact, trapped moisture and neglected cut edges deserve particular attention.
Metal bin storage
Metal offers a crisp appearance and generally needs less decorative upkeep. Panel coatings, ventilation and anchoring details are important. Assembly on an uneven base can make large doors difficult to align, and damaged finishes should be dealt with using the maker’s recommended method.

- Will you maintain timber periodically, or do you prefer a factory finish?
- Are replacement parts and touch-up instructions available?
