You need a tape measure, a level surface and the actual bins that will use the store. Measure every bin if they are not identical.
1. Measure the width
Measure across the widest fixed point. Check the body, lid lip, handles and wheel area. Do not record only the narrow front face.
2. Measure the depth
Measure from the furthest point at the front to the furthest point at the back. Rear handles and wheels often extend beyond the main body.
3. Measure the closed height
Stand the bin normally and measure from the ground to the highest point of the closed lid. Include any raised handle or lid profile.
4. Check the lid in use
Open the bin as you would when adding a bag. Note the highest point and how far the lid moves behind the body. A store with a linked lifting roof may need its own published open-height figure as well.
5. Measure the route and the site
Record the narrowest delivery and collection route, the usable installation width and depth, overhead clearance and the clear space in front. Measure around drainpipes, steps, gates and parked vehicles rather than through them.
Write down the smallest safe space
Use the most restrictive reliable measurement. Do not subtract an obstacle mentally or assume a door will stop short of it. Enter the figures in the Fit Finder and manually confirm any product field that is missing.
